Data Filters: leave campaigns or orders out of your reports

Save filters that narrow your Dashboard and Pixel reports, for example without retargeting, brand search or certain countries.

Written by Venon

Data Filters let you leave campaigns or orders out of your Dashboard and Pixel reports. Everything is included by default. Add a filter when you want to see numbers without, for example, retargeting campaigns, brand search or orders from certain countries.

Where filters apply

  • Filters that are on apply to the Dashboard and the Pixel page, including their charts, comparisons and order/product drill-downs.

  • Other pages are not filtered.

  • Filters belong to your shop. Turning a filter on or off changes it for everyone on your team.

  • Admins and editors can create and switch filters. Viewers cannot.

Create a filter

  1. Go to Settings → Data Filters and click New Filter.

  2. Under Applies To, choose Shopify or one of your connected ad platforms.

  3. Add a Filter Title, for example No Retargeting. The description is optional.

  4. Set your conditions. Venon shows a summary sentence, for example Shows only Shopify orders where Shipping Country is any of DE, AT, CH.

  5. Click Save Filter. A new filter is switched on right away.

What you can filter

Shopify orders

  • Order Name: contains, does not contain, starts with, is any of, is none of.

  • Shipping Country: is any of, is none of. Pick countries from the list.

  • Payment Gateway: is any of, is none of. Pick gateways from the list.

Ad platforms

  • Campaign Name, Ad Set Name and Ad Name: contains, does not contain, starts with, is any of, is none of.

  • Campaign ID, Ad Set ID and Ad ID: is any of, is none of. Search and pick them from your own data.

  • Google Ads, TikTok Ads, Microsoft Ads and Pinterest Ads show Ad Group instead of Ad Set.

For text values, type a value and press Enter or comma after each one. Matching ignores upper and lower case.

Combine conditions

  • A condition with several values matches when any of them matches. For is none of and does not contain, none of them may match.

  • Conditions inside one group must all match (AND).

  • Click Add OR Group when either group may match (OR). Example: (Campaign Name contains DE) or (Campaign Name contains AT).

  • When several filters are on, all of them apply.

How filters change your numbers

  • Shopify filters change which orders count. Only DACH Orders keeps orders shipped to Germany, Austria and Switzerland and leaves all other orders out of revenue, orders and profit.

  • Ad platform filters only change that platform. No Brand Search on Google Ads removes the brand campaign's spend and attributed revenue from Google Ads.

  • Removed ad credit is not given to another channel, and your store orders stay the same.

Turn filters on and off

  • Use the switch next to each filter in Settings → Data Filters.

  • On the Dashboard and Pixel page, click the filter icon next to the date range. The badge shows how many filters are on.

  • Click Manage Filters to open the settings page.

Edit, duplicate or delete

Click the ⋯ menu next to a filter and choose Edit, Duplicate or Delete. A duplicate is saved as a new filter with (Copy) in its title.

Limits

  • Up to 20 filters per shop.

  • Up to 10 OR groups and 10 conditions per filter.

  • Up to 100 values per condition.

  • Shipping countries use 2-letter country codes, for example DE, AT or CH. Use GB for the United Kingdom. Groups like EU are not supported.

Filters in ChatGPT, Claude and the API

Reports through the AI Connector or the API do not use filters unless you ask for them. Ask your AI tool to apply your enabled filters, or name the filters you want. Your AI tool can also list, create, edit and delete filters for you. See Connect Venon to ChatGPT, Claude, and Other Tools.
