Why numbers differ between Venon, Shopify, Meta, and Google

Understand why revenue, orders, and attribution can differ between Venon and other platforms.

Written by Venon

Venon, Shopify, Meta, Google, and Klaviyo can show different numbers because they measure different things in different ways.

Common reasons numbers differ

  • Different attribution models.

  • Different attribution windows.

  • Different time zones.

  • Refunds, discounts, taxes, and shipping handled differently.

  • Ad platforms reporting modeled or delayed conversions.

  • Klaviyo reporting flow revenue while Venon reports order and attribution data.

Why AOV differs from Shopify

Shopify and Venon include different values when calculating average order value.

  • Shopify AOV: (gross product sales − discounts) / orders

  • Venon AOV: (product sales − discounts + taxes + shipping) / orders

Venon's AOV can be higher because it includes taxes and shipping. Taxes usually account for most of the difference, while shipping is usually a smaller part.

Neither calculation is wrong. The 2 platforms include different values in AOV.

How to check

  1. Start with the same date range in both tools.

  2. Check if the tools use the same attribution model and window.

  3. Compare individual orders in the All Orders report.

  4. Check if refunds, taxes, shipping, or discounts are included.

  5. Use the difference to understand the source, not to assume one number is wrong.

Simple explanation

  • Shopify shows store orders.

  • Ad platforms show what they claim they influenced.

  • Venon connects orders back to sources using tracking and attribution rules.
