Data freshness and syncing in Venon

Check update times, understand delayed data, and follow historical Shopify order imports.

Written by Venon

Venon refreshes ad data and processes analytics in the background. Shopify historical orders use a separate import.

1. Check Last updated

  1. Open the user menu in the top-right corner of Venon.

  2. Read Last updated.

The time is shown in the shop timezone. For shops with connected ad platforms, it reflects the older of the ad-data fetch time and the analytics processing time. A new fetch alone does not mean every report has finished updating.

2. Check a platform fetch

  1. Open Integrations.

  2. Click Manage for the platform, then open Details.

  3. Check Last fetched for the connected ad account.

This example shows the Google Ads fetch time. It is separate from the overall Last updated indicator.

Ad spend normally refreshes about every 2 hours. This is a background schedule, not an exact delivery deadline. Fetching and analytics processing can take additional time.

3. Understand the delayed-data banner

On Pixel and the Meta or Google Pixel drilldown pages, Venon can show: Planned maintenance: ad data and revenue are currently delayed, so metrics may not be up to date.

The banner appears when the freshness time is more than 4 hours old. Treat recent metrics as incomplete while the data is delayed. If the delay persists, check the integration for an error and contact support.

4. Allow historical Shopify orders

  1. Open Cohort Analysis, Retention, or Product Relationships.

  2. If you see Unlock Profit Tracking + Order History, click Update App. You need shop admin rights.

  3. Approve the requested Shopify permissions and return to Venon.

This permission update can enable historical orders and product weights for shipping-cost tracking. The import runs in the background after the required permissions are granted.

5. Follow the import progress

  1. Look for Syncing Historical Orders... and In Progress.

  2. Check the number of orders synced and minutes elapsed.

  3. If the banner shows Sync Failed, read the error and ask a shop admin to click Retry Sync.

Large shops can take several hours. You can close the page and return later. The progress banner disappears after completion, unless a permissions update is still needed.

What history does a new ad connection import?

An ad connection is not a full historical ad-spend import. The recent-data window depends on the platform and the available sync state. Do not assume all pre-connection spend will appear.

Historical Shopify orders and historical ad spend are separate. Importing old orders does not fill in missing old ad spend. If you need a specific earlier period, contact support before relying on that period for profit comparisons.
